Inspiration: Norman Rockwell

Here is a project I have been working on for some time. The idea is to select one of the works of Norman Rockwell, and then do a Before and an After painting. My paintings here are based off of Rockwell's "The Charwomen." In my story the old charwoman works every night cleaning at the theater. But while she's there she reads the discarded playbills and tries to remember the story of the ballet that night, so that when she gets home, she can recount that story to her young grand kids, who love ballet.

Building the Lighting Model

Here are a few shots of a small set I built as a lighting model for my Crew of You illustration project.
Here is the set under normal light:

And here is the set with a couple of different lighting setups:

Little Paper Car

Working on a scale model for an illustration. Made this little car out of paper!

More on this later...

Character Work

Taking an illustration course with the famous Barron Storey. Here are a few characters I designed for a current project!

Summertime Plein Air

Big Sur, CA
About 40 minutes of good painting in the blasting, sandy wind.

More Kitchen Studies

A plein air study of my kitchen again. It's a fun spot to paint. This time in gouache. 6 hours.

Flower Shop Design

Some updates from my Visual Development class! For this project we had to design the interior and exterior of a flower shop in New York. I also did designs for the owner of the flower shop: a Turkish immigrant that likes to deliver the flowers on her bicycle.

Nintendo Charity Gallery

Year 2 and another Charity Gallery! This time organized by Rev Kotni and crew, the gallery will feature over 200 artists creating artwork of famous Nintendo characters. The Gallery and Auction for the work will begin April 25th! The auction is online but work can be seen at the Umpqua Bank in San Jose on the 25th. All proceeds will be donated to the Morgan Autism Center (http://www.morgancenter.org/).

Here is my piece for Paper Mario. I had a lot of fun making this one, and its a mix of Acrylic paint, Embroidery, and marker.

UPDATE:
The Galley is called Press Start and it's open to see in downtown San Jose! You can bid on pieces here:
